Control Manager de Trend Micro + Windows 2000 + MSDE Unable to I

En la instalación del Control Manager ( Trend Micro TM ) nos fallaba la
instalación en la parte de MSDE ( Microsoft Desktop Data Engine ).
El caso es que haciendo la instalación aparte del MSDE se intalaba
correctamente… y nos hemos tirado un rato con el problema.
Al final en la página de support de microsoft estaba la solución:

Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Services icon in Control Panel.
Stop the MSSQLServer service.
Close the Services window.
Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel.
Select MSDE from the list and click Add/Remove to uninstall the
program.

Close the Add/Remove Programs window.
Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Windows NT Explorer.
Delete the C:\MSSQL7 folder and all of its contents.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the command line, type «regedit» (without the quotation marks).
Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft registry key.
Delete the MSSQLServer registry key, if present.
Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services registry key.

Delete the MSSQLServer registry key, if present.
Delete the SQLServerAgent registry key, if present.

No es del todo exacto pero ha funcionado con borrar los servicios de
msde y
la cadena del registro de
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer
